Edward James Bried, 79, of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 29, 2015.

Ed was born in Teaneck, NJ on April 29, 1936, son of the late Henry and Rose (Zell) Bried.  During World War II, the family relocated to California, where they lived for 4 years.  They settled in Delaware in 1947, and Ed was a graduate of Salesianum School, class of 1956.  He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958, and served aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt.  Ed was honorably discharged in 1962 and maintained his service as an active duty Naval Reservist.  In 1985, he was called to serve our country aboard the USS Missouri and spent two years visiting various ports throughout the world.  Ed was employed as an electrician with the DuPont Company in Deepwater, NJ.  He retired with 30 years of service to the DuPont Company and the United States Navy. 

Ed was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, and enjoyed antique auctions and collecting many different items.

Ed is survived by his brothers, Henry William Bried, Rev. William King Bried OFM and Robert Daniel Bried; his 4 nephews and 2 nieces; and 14 grand nephews and nieces.

Friends are invited to the visitation at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th Street and Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington on Friday, May 8 from 9:30-10:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM.  Interment with military honors will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
