Cynthia H. Gentieu

August 27, 1947 ~ August 23, 2015 (age 67) 67 Years Old


Cynthia H. Gentieu, formerly Cynthia H. Jones, of Bear, DE died August 23, 2015. Cynthia was surrounded by her sisters, family and friends at her sister's home in Centreville, DE.

Cindy, as she was known, was born in Wilmington, DE on August 27, 1947 to Paul E. and Helen D. Jones. She attended Oak Grove School and graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in 1965. Cindy began her business career at Delaware Trust Co. in 1965. After 15 years she resigned as Assistant Treasurer. She and her deceased husband, Paul Gentieu, co-owned Leonard's Restaurant in Taft, CA from 1980-1984.

Cindy returned to Bear, DE and joined the R C Peoples Co., in 1990 as an Accounting and Business Analyst. Cindy retired in 2008. Cindy enjoyed the big and small things of life. She enjoyed gardening, family outings, the beach, neighbors and traveling to visit family. She served her community as a former President of Christiana Hundred Democratic Club.

She cared for others throughout her life providing special love and guidance to Louis Gentieu who loved her very much. Later she cared for her father for 9 1/2 years. While doing so she took great interest in family genealogy and World War II Veterans and the WW II National Memorial in Washington D.C.
Cindy is survived by her sister, Barbara A. Clark, husband Walter, of Wilmington, DE; her sister, Darlene P. Mulvena, aka as Tiny, and her husband, Daniel of Centreville, DE.; also her nieces, Lisa and Maria Clark of Wilmington, DE and Lorraine Hoffman of Layton, UT.

Cindy was predeceased by her grandnephew, Senior Airman Lance Hoffman of the U.S. Air Force. She also had grandnephews, Alex Hoffman of Layton, UT and Justin Hudson of Pike Creek, DE.

Visitation will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE on Thursday, August 27 from 5-7 PM. A private service and burial will take place Friday, August 28.
