Congetta (Laurita) Pinghera peacefully passed away in the comfort of home on her 97th birthday, Saturday, April 7, 2018.
A native of Long Island City, New York, Jetta was the youngest child of a large Italian family. In her early years, she was employed as a clerk with Saks Fifth Avenue, where she had the pleasure of meeting many well-known celebrities. She was a loving, devoted homemaker who enjoyed cooking and took great pride in her lasagna. Jetta enjoyed find-a-word puzzles, watching television game shows, and listening to music, with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Lou Monte and Julio Iglesias being some of her favorites.
Jetta was predeceased by her parents, Rocco and Clotilda (Fiore) Laurita; her sisters, Rose Lucca, Mary Burbank, Theresa Prudenti, Millie Mirro, Angelina Licari, Frances Rose, and Anna Scotti; her brothers, Charles, Michael, and Anthony Laurita, as well as two infant brothers.
In addition, Jetta was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John Pinghera, who passed away in 2007; her son, Angelo “Dee” Pinghera, who passed away in 2017; her grandson, Brian Pinghera, who passed away in 2006.
Jetta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Adele Pinghera, with whom she lived; her daughter-in-law, Carole Pinghera; her grandsons, Andrew “Drew”, Lewis and Gregory Pinghera; her great grandchildren, Brittany Fuller, Nicholas, Samantha, Jonathan, and Gianna Rose Pinghera; her great-great-granddaughter, Delaney Rose Fuller.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, April 17 from 5:00-7:00PM. An additional visitation will be held at Holy Family Church, Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark on Wednesday, April 18 at 10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM, followed by entombment in All Saints Cemetery.
