Cecilia S. (Kula) Ziejewski

Cecilia S. Ziejewski, age 100, passed away at Heartland Hospice on December 6, 2017. She was born on December 25, 1916 to the late Katarzyna and Wojciech Kula in the Browntown section of Wilmington, DE, where she resided happily for her entire life.

Cecilia was a loving and very generous mother, grandmother and great grandmother who delighted in being surrounded by her family, who called her “Babci”. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and was a longtime member of AMPOL and a devoted member of St. Hedwig Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and was active in the Holy Rosary sodality.

Cecilia retired from New Castle County after more than 25 years of service as a clerk in the Recorder of Deeds Office, where she was a familiar face to a multitude of local attorneys who deemed her their most efficient and favorite assistant.

Cecilia was predeceased by her husband, Stephen F. Ziejewski, Sr.; her sons, Stephen F. Ziejewski, Jr. and Joseph Ziejewski; and her great grandson, Jacob Kirlin-Stout; as well as her 3 brothers, Joseph, Stanley and Casimer Kula and 2 sisters, Helen Lewis and Tess Kowalewski. She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Stout; grandchildren, Dr. Daria Ryan, Dr. Jeffrey Stout, Dr. Katryna Golian, Camilla Riley, Saundra Daigle, Patrice Stout, Christine Shearon, Gregory Ziejewski, and Diane Ziejewski; daughter-in-law, Joanne Ziejewski and 19 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 11:00 AM in St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805, where family and friends may visit from 9:30 to 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Hedwig Church.
