Catherine "Kitty" (Lucia) LaFazia

Catherine “Kitty” (Lucia) LaFazia, 85, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.  She was in the comforting presence of her family throughout the last several days.

Kitty was born in Wilmington on March 14, 1932, daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (Colombo) Lucia.  A graduate of St. Paul’s Commercial School, she began her working career with the State of Delaware Board of Education.  Following her marriage to her beloved husband, Bob, she became a devoted homemaker and full time mother to their two daughters.  Kitty later re-entered the work force for several years, eventually retiring from the Ramada Inn in 1992.  She was a long time member of St. John the Beloved Parish.  Kitty was a talented cook, and in her leisure time enjoyed shopping and time at the beach.

Kitty will be dearly missed by her husband of 59 years, Robert J. LaFazia; her daughters, Dina LaFazia Treml and husband, Michael, Corinne LaFazia Lizza and husband, Peter; her grandchildren, Nicole Pierce and husband, Andrew, Shane Treml, Jamie Treml, Mark Lizza; and her great granddaughter, Giada Lucia Pierce.

She was predeceased by her brother, Franny Lucia; her sisters, Theresa Pennell and Doris Maloney.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Monday, February 12 from 10:00-11:15AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM.  Entombment will be held privately.
