Catherine (Carr) Figun

Catherine (Carr) Figun, age 93, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2015 in Lewes.

She was born in Wilmington on March 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Feely) Carr.

Catherine dedicated her life to raising her family and especially cherished time spent with her grandson. She enjoyed gardening – growing both flowers and vegetables and loved going to the beach. She also enjoyed taking trips to Ireland with her late daughter, Peg.

She is survived by her two sons, Martin K. and Michael C. Figun; her grandson, Nicholas W. Figun; and her sisters, Cecilia Conway and Margaret Carney.

In addition to her parents and daughter, Margaret Figun, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Carr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Matthew’s Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804. Committal services will follow in the chapel of Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Catherine’s family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way #205, New Castle, DE 19720.
