Carol A. Lillis

January 12, 1943 ~ November 14, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Carol A. Lillis, of Landenberg, PA, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at home with family by her side after a four year battle with cancer.  She was born on January 12, 1943 in Washington, D.C. and she grew up in Newtown Square, PA.  Her parents, John Trevisan and Helen Biesecker Trevisan, predeceased her.

Carol was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Nursing in 1964 and received her Masters in Nursing from the University of Delaware in 1979.  Carol worked in the nursing field for over 40 years.  She started as a registered nurse, and then became an educator, eventually serving as the Dean of Nursing at Delaware County Community College.   She was also a successful co-author of eight editions of the popular textbook, Fundamentals of Nursing.

Carol lived in Wilmington, Delaware for most of her adult life where she and her husband, Jack, raised a close-knit family of four boys.  Carol was a force of nature, with her incredibly energetic lifestyle, positive attitude and infectious smile.  She had a great sense of humor that was often highlighted in her playful, annual Christmas letters.  Carol loved to exercise and competed in many half marathons with friends and family.  She adored her grandchildren and cherished being called “Grammy.”  In addition to attending many of their sporting events, and texting back and forth about all of their achievements, she also included them on annual Grandparents Trip to unique locations.  Favorite memories include family summer vacations in the Outer Banks and large holiday gatherings.

She had a special marriage with her surviving husband of 53 years, Jack Lillis.  Additional surviving family members include her sons (and their spouses), Scott (Sandra), Brad (Colleen), Stephen (Jill), Brian (Katie) and her cherished grandchildren Ingrid, Finn, Erin, Nate, Hans, Jack, Kyle, Sydney, David and James. Survivors also include her 6 siblings Louise, John, Paul, Linda, David and Denise, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

Beautiful memories will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched and nurtured over the years. She was an incredible person and her family and friends are grateful for having been part of her life.
