Brian passed away on August 5, 2017 and is survived by his son, Kyle Michael Lee Heflin, his mother, Fay (Gilmer) Horisk, his sister,  Laura (Heflin) Ryan and his brother, Michael Heflin. His father Lee Heflin predeceased him.

Brian was a graduate of John Dickinson High School. This is where he was nicknamed ‘Boot’ for his love of wearing cowboy boots to school.   He later went on to become a Master Electrician and owned and operated his own business, BH Electric.

Brian will be remembered for his great smile and jovial laugh. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing and crabbing. He was a frequent visitor to the fishing pier at Massey’s Landing where he was recognized in the spring of 2017 for catching a 25-inch 7 lb. flounder.  He loved sharing vegetables that he grew from seeds each summer. He also enjoyed cooking meals to share with his friends and spending evenings around a bonfire sharing stories and gazing at the stars.

Brian was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and family with projects, especially projects that were electrical or mechanical in nature.  He will be remembered as a person who was always willing to help others in need and give generously of his time.

The great love of Brian’s life was his son Kyle. Brian was a loving and dedicated father who would express his pride daily about “my boy”.  Many of the family’s favorite pictures of Brian are with Kyle (as an infant or toddler) lying asleep across his chest.  Kyle was the one who brought joy into Brian’s days.  He was incredibly proud that Kyle has enrolled in college classes, which he will start this semester.

Brian, you are a man we will love forever and you will be missed everyday.

A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 1:00 – 5:00 at his mother’s home in Long Neck, DE.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to a college fund for his beloved son, Kyle Heflin.  A special account has been started and can be deposited at M & T Bank, 38160 Long Neck Road, Long Neck, DE 19966, or any branch office.
