Welcome to the memorial page for

Brian T. Feeley

July 27, 1951 ~ February 19, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Brian T. Feeley, age 65, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 19, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Frances J. Feeley.

Brian was a graduate of Salesianum High School Class of 1969. He also was a graduate of the University of Delaware, where he received his Bachelor Degree and graduated from the MAEEE program. Before retiring in 2014, Brian was a social studies teacher at Hodgson Vo-Tech High School for 39 years. Brian was the coach of the cross country team, which he started 27 years ago.

Family was the center of Brian’s world, especially his grandchildren. He loved to create memories and experiences through the many family celebrations that he organized. Brian was the “Grillmaster” for Sunday dinners and loved celebrating the holidays with his family, especially Christmas. He treasured the annual family vacation to Ocean City, MD, with his children and grandchildren. Brian will be remembered for his sarcasm, his dry sense of humor and his outgoing personality.

In his spare time, Brian was an avid runner, who could be found on his favorite trail, James Hall Trail. He loved to brew beer, which he always had something on tap in his Beer Cave. Brian also enjoyed kicking back some of his craft beers with his sons in law, Shawn and Patrick, whom he loved like sons. Brian was also a talented photographer. He also was the #1 fan and groupie of the Fabulous Greaseband, which he drove all over to see play.

Brian is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 45 years, Sue L. (Rehrig) Feeley; his daughters, Colleen S. Barrett (Shawn) and Erin K. Boettcher (Patrick); his grandchildren, Maggie, Trent, Chloe and Brayden; his sisters, Kathleen Gregory (Cris), Sharon Nahodil (John), Maureen Berry (Jim); his father in law, Robert Rehrig; his mother in law, Ruth Rehrig; his sister in law, Jill Rehrig (Anthony); his brothers in law, Bobby Rehrig (Kittie) and Billy Rehrig (Suzanne); many nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as a small close circle of friends.

A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Hodgson Vo-Tech High School, where family and friends are invited to meet at the track at 11 AM for those who would like to walk or run in memory of Brian. Afterwards, the Celebration of Life will continue inside the school until 1 PM. The family requests that everyone come dressed in casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 N. 3rd St., Philadelphia, PA 19103, as Brian gave the gift of life through being an organ donor.
