Barbara B. Smith

On Thursday, February 15, 2018, Barbara Bunnell Smith, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.  Barbara will be forever remembered by her beloved children, Leslie Welter and husband Jim, Wendy Stearrett and her husband, Bob and by her three grandchildren, Amber, Ashleigh and Nichole. 

She loved to volunteer, play cards, spend time with her grandchildren and help family and friends.  Additionally she was an avid tennis player and fan, bowling champion, competitive bridge player and the best first mate anyone could ask for while sailing the Chesapeake in a yacht named “TANGERINE.”  Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Captain Ron Smith, brother, Donald J. Bunnell Jr. and parents, Donald J. and Elizabeth W. Bunnell.

Barbara faithfully worked at numerous DuPont sites for 40 years and retired as an Executive Secretary from the DuPont Experimental Station.

Barbara’s legacy will be her great love for her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial at the Newark Country Club, 300 W. Main Street, Newark, Delaware on Sunday, March 4 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Seasons Hospice Foundation, 8537 Solution Center, Chicago, IL 60677-8005.
