Barbara C. Lutz

Barbara C. Lutz, age 78, of Wilmington, DE, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Born and raised in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Francis “Goldie” and Jean (Poniecky) Lutz.

Barbara was a longtime employee of General Motors’ Wilmington Plant. She was both an earlier adopter of IBM mainframe computing and a supply chain management specialist. Barbara and her longtime companion, Bob Caufman, were avid sailors and lifetime members of the North East River Yacht Club. They won numerous sailing awards through the years.

Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life and 50+ years companion, Robert L. Caufman; her parents; as well as her brother, Dr. Francis T. Lutz. She is survived by her sister in law, Antoinette E. Lutz; her nephew, Francis A. Lutz (Marjorie); her niece, Michele L. Mitchell (Raymond); and her great nieces, Jessica Mitchell and Emma Lutz and great nephew, Daniel Lutz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 10 AM at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Dr., Wilmington, DE 19804.
