James M. Haney

James M. Haney, 78, of Elsmere, Delaware passed away at his home on Monday, April 8, 2024.  Born in Wilmington on August 12, 1945, he was the son of the late John and Alice (Burns) Haney.

Jim was a graduate of P.S. duPont High School and served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. An avid lover of music, he enjoyed working as a DJ throughout the 1970s and 1980s.  Jim also worked a number of jobs during his career, with his last being a security guard with AIG Insurance Company. 

Jim enjoyed baseball and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.  He also enjoyed the beach and eating crabs.  He was a devoted father, and possessed a great sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Eugene “Gene” Haney; and his former wife, Marie Soltys.

Jim is survived by his son, Shannon “Ace” Haney; his brother, John “Jay” Haney and wife, Mary Fran; his sister, Mary Alice Martelli and husband, Luke; his sister-in-law, Pat Riley and husband, John; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and interment for Jim will be held privately.
