Robert C. Rehrig

Robert C. Rehrig, age 89, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2017, with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Tamaqua, PA, Bob was the son of the late William and Sallie Rehrig. He was a graduate of Tamaqua High School Class of 1946. For many years, Bob worked as a pipefitter and welder for ICI. After retiring from ICI, he worked as the maintenance manager at Delcastle Golf Club.

In his spare time, Bob enjoyed playing golf, gardening and listening to music. He was a talented woodworker and handyman, who could make or fix anything. Bob treasured spending time with his family, friends and pets.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends for his quiet yet silly demeanor and his knack for always making them laugh. Bob loved his dogs, especially his beloved black Labrador, Shelley.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ruth F. (Lockwood) Rehrig; his children, Susan L. Feeley (the late Brian T.), Jill A. Rehrig (Anthony Reder), Robert E. Rehrig (Martha), and William I. Rehrig (Suzanne); his ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; as well as lifelong family friend, June Fitzgerald. He is survived by one brother and predeceased by one brother and 4 sisters.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Seasons Hospice for the care and kindness they showed to Bob and his family.

Upon Bob’s request, there will be no formal services. In honor of him, Bob would love for everyone to make someone smile.
