Michael F. Boltrek, 55, of Wilmington peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.
Michael was well known for his larger than life personality. In addition, he was the favored bartender of family and friends for craft show weekends. He was loving, kind and lived to be in the world of horses. Despite the many surgeries for back pain, Michael endured and was happiest during his training time at Carousel Park. His excitement for his student achievements was unprecedented. His love for horses started at an early age and resulted in his moving around the country to participate in many facets of the horse industry. He was successful in dressage competitions and will be greatly missed.
Michael is survived by his husband of 14 years, Robert Goodhart; his sisters, Betty Pearsall (John), Barbara Kolb, Regina Kuhl (Richard), Eileen Van Gelder, Patty Modica (Joe); his brothers, William Boltrek, Jr. (Sheila), Peter McCloat (Lynn); numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Jane (Watson) Boltrek; his step-mother, Rhoda Boltrek; his sister, Joan Dearborn; his niece, Jane Boltrek.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, March 19 from 3:30-5:00PM, immediately followed by a remembrance service.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life is being planned for the spring and will be held at Carousel Park. Details will be shared through Facebook and email at a later date.
