Marie E. Zulkowski (Calloway)

Marie Ester Zulkowski (Calloway), age 86, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 22, 2017.

She was the loving wife of 62 years to Stanley E. Zulkowski. Marie was born on August 27, 1931 in Chester, PA and was a graduate of Harrington High School. She worked for many years at Martin’s Steak House in Wilmington and retired after 25 years of service at the Sears Fashion Center. Marie was a devoted housewife, mother and doting grandmother.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, singing and dancing and going to the casino. She loved going to the beach and riding the waves at the Cape May and Delaware shores. She also loved to travel and go on cruises.

In addition to her husband, Stanley, she is survived by her sister, Kate Wilson of Smyrna, DE her daughters, Patricia Zulkowski (Tim Nabal) of Chadds Ford, PA, Catherine Elerksousy of Bear, DE and Sandra Cahalan (James) of Pittsburgh, PA; her 2 granddaughters, Morgan and Allison, a host of nieces and nephews and her sister in law, Helen Calloway.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elsie Calloway, her brothers, William, Cab and Franklin Calloway and her sisters, Evelyn LeCates, Marguerite Cooke and Ruth Ann Shaner.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 3 at 11:15 am at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek where family and friends may visit from 10-11:15. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
