Gary Hopkins Sr., 64, of Pike Creek passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born in New Castle on December 3, 1953, son of the late Raymond and Susan (Gaydos) Hopkins. A graduate of William Penn High School, class of 1971, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Engineering from Delaware Technical & Community College. He was employed with Delmarva Power for 34 years and retired in 2012. Gary enjoyed many outdoor activities including gardening, cooking on the grill, and taking in the beautiful sites at Longwood Gardens, particularly the spring tulips.
Gary will be dearly missed by his wife of 43 years, Terry (Zaborowski) Hopkins; his son, Gary Hopkins Jr. (Natalie); his daughter, Christine Hopkins; his grandchildren, Cole and Sabrina. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Hopkins (JoAnn); his sister, Joyce Linus (Jim); parents-in-law, Alfred and Irene Zaborowski; sisters-in-law, Marie Fitzpatrick (Bill) and Susan Daily (Terry); brother-in-law, Tom Zaborowski (Cathy); several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, January 17 from 10:30AM-12:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM, followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
