David Missimer Obituary

David Bruce Missimer, Sr., age 72, passed away at home with his family at his side. 

He was born in Wilmington to the late Leslie D. and Margaret E. Missimer.  

Dave graduated from P.S. DuPont High School and then attended Oklahoma State University where he played football. As a member of the U.S. Army, he proudly served our country in Vietnam from 1967-1969, where he became an operating room specialist. He then went to Denver to serve out his last year at 47th General Hospital.

He worked at Electric Hose and Rubber and then acquired his real estate license and worked for Stoltz Realty and Patterson Schwartz for several years before moving on to work in retail sales at J.C Penney until his retirement.  

Dave loved Doo Wop, travel, and OSU football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, David B. Missimer, Jr.  

He is survived by his wife, Betsey; daughter and son-in law, Arianne and John Shuma; brother and sister-in-law, William and Maryann Missimer of Texas; and brother, Michael of Florida.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 9:30am. Interment will be held in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
